Being quite new to cruising has meant that we’ve welcomed the opportunities to make new friends whenever we can.

We made friends for life in Laurie and Damon of s/v Mother Jones in Panama, and ended up buddy-boating with them for a few months and they even helped us through the canal transit. We were lucky enough to be expecting our first boat baby at the same time as Vlad and Attila of s/v Bettie, who we met in Mexico, and our two kids had a brilliant time being dock neighbours while we got ready to cross the Pacific.

Another year brought us to the happy coincidence of crossing the south Pacific at the same time as our friends on s/v Fluenta, Max, Liz and their kids. But, since leaving the Mexican coast, we managed to miss each other and be on a different time schedule for every island that we visited. So it was lovely to be able to raft up to them when we all arrived in Whangarei and have friends next door with a little bub of their own. They’ll be heading out to the islands again while we’re off exploring New Zealand so I’m sure Rocket will miss her playmate.
