Whangarei is just a little way north of Auckland and the town basin dock lies 15 miles upriver from Whangarei Harbour mouth. This means it’s a perfect spot to have your boat for a while if you’re planning on any big boat projects or other work as even when it’s blowing hard, the water and boats up here stay nice and steady. It’s also rather rare to find a town where the marina is slap bang in the centre of things, rather than on the outskirts, which makes for lovely walks all over to explore and stretch our sea legs.
