You know what they say about London buses? That you wait for ages and then suddenly three come at once. Well, Panama’s Bocas del Toro has been a bit like that for us and visitors.

We’ve just had our third set of boat guest here and are about to welcome our fourth! Bex and Toby, my sister and her husband, came to stay for a couple of weeks and got totally into the swing of boat life. We snorkelled, we caught fish and crab, we lazed on the beach, jumped in the surf, introduced them to all our new Bocas buddies, showed them the many amzing creatures of the archipelago and almost made them have a pirate wedding…

They held a kinkajou on Isla Carenero, had geckos on their heads in the marina, were offered a jellyfish in a bucket as a morning gift in Porras Lagoon, saw a shark just off Isla Solarte and cuddled a sleepy ferret and a tiny kitten in Bastimentos. Oh, and we all saw the biggest, most beautiful spotted eagle ray right next to the boat.

They were awesome boat guests and we miss them already. Check out updated photos on the Surrounding page.
