It seems incredible that I’ve been writing for sailing magazines internationally for 9 years now. I’ve been amazingly lucky to have worked with some great editors who trusted me and encouraged me, allowing me platforms to write about really whatever I wanted to.

But I do play favourites and writing my monthly column for Sailing Today magazine, which I’ve been working on since early 2015, is one of my greatest pleasures. I’ve worked with two fabulous illustrators for this column so far, firstly Aimee Jewitt-Harris and then Michael Parkin. Both were great and brought their own style and insight into the work.

And now, for the first time ever, when we were looking for a new talent to turn my words into pictures, I was able to handpick my own choice for an illustrator and found the fantastic Holly Astle.

I love that she is Falmouth-based and how strong a role the sea plays in all of her creations. Go and take a look at some of this year’s articles on my Sailing Today page here to see just how well she has risen to the challenge. You can find Holly’s own website here. Enjoy!x
